Southeast Asian countries may soon be flooded by cheap Chinese goods which have been shut out of the American market, analysts say.
This may make the region’s own exports less competitive, affecting economic growth and jobs.
During the election campaign, President-elect Donald Trump, who just won a second term as US president, vowed to impose tariffs of up to 60% on Chinese imports and at least 10% on goods from all other countries.
He has also threatened to pull the US out of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework For Prosperity, which aims to enhance economic cooperation in the region.
