Importers will not be allowed to bring plastic waste into Thailand from January 2025, the Department of Foreign Trade says.
The move was published in the Royal Gazette on 16 December.
The ruling includes an amendment to item 39.15 of Thailand’s Tariff Schedule, which covers import of waste, parings and plastic scraps.
The import of plastics scraps into the kingdom will still be permitted if supplies are inadequate. In this case, the imports must be approved by the Department of Industrial Works.
