Songkran Named Intangible Cultural Heritage

Thailand will soon celebrate the inclusion of the Songkran Festival on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) list of the world’s intangible cultural heritage.

The Cultural Promotion Department has confirmed that Thailand’s traditional new year, known as the Songkran Festival, will be officially named a world intangible cultural heritage during the meeting in Botswana on 6 December.
