Singapore has been in the top five of the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking for several years, ending up third this year. The island nation excels in technology and the regulatory, capital, and technological frameworks.
Finland was once again placed among the top ten at 8th, dropping one place from last year.
Besides Singapore, Southeast Asian countries are still lagging in many ways. Malaysia dropped two places to 33rd, Thailand climbed five places to 35th, and Indonesia climbed six places to 45th in the rankings.
The United States took the top spot in this year’s rankings, followed by the Netherlands.
Now in its seventh year, the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking, produced by the IMD World Competitiveness Center, measures the capacity and readiness of 64 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies as a key driver for economic transformation in business, government, and wider society.
