Chinese authorities expect a record 9 billion inter-regional trips during this year’s Spring Festival travel period, which began on 14 January and will continue until 22 February, an estimated 7% rise from last year’s Spring Festival.
Almost 205 million inter-regional trips were made in China on Tuesday, the Chinese New Year’s Eve, according to official statistics.
194 million trips were taken by road, 7.8 million by rail, 1.9 million by air and 587,000 on water, according to a special Soring Festival work team.
