Norway will not follow the EU tariffs on Chinese electric cars.
Norwegian Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvol Vedum says that tariffs would be neither relevant nor desirable for the Norwegian government.
Norway has the highest density of electric vehicles worldwide and more than 80% of the cars sold in Norway in 2022 were EVs, and more than 12% of the EVs are imported into Norway from China.
The European Commission announced yesterday that 25% tariffs would be applied to Chinese EVs in Europe.
