Indonesia and Vietnam have posted improvements on the latest Travel and Tourism Development Index. Indonesia has climbed to second place in Southeast Asia, jumping from 44th to 32nd, whereas Vietnam has moved up from 60th to 52nd.
One of the biggest travel destinations in Southeast Asia, Thailand, has seen its ranking drop to 36th from 35th place. The biggest concerns that the kingdom faces are safety and security. Singapore is still keeping the top spot in the region.
Globally, Japan has maintained its top position, followed by the US. Finland currently ranks 18th on the list.
The Travel and Tourism Development Index provides a strategic benchmarking tool for business, governments, and international organizations. It also reflects the role of travel and tourism in broader economic and social development.
