Kemira will make a multi-million Euro investment in multiple production line expansion of strength chemical agents for paper, board, and tissue at its Wellgrow site in Thailand.

The implementation of the expansion project will begin next year, and the new capacity is expected to be up and running in August 2026.

Kemira’s new advanced strength technology enables lower water usage, improved material efficiency, and superior strength. The technology supports customers in achieving higher productivity while reducing environmental impact when replacing older technologies.

Strength agents are used for improving the mechanical properties of all kinds of paper and board products.

“To further strengthen our leading position in APAC, we are expanding our production in Thailand for future growth. The Asian pulp and paper market is growing among the fastest globally, and this investment will enhance our capabilities to provide cutting-edge, sustainable chemical technology to serve our customers,” said Harri Eronen, EVP Packaging & Hygiene Solutions, Kemira.

The total estimated annual capacity at the Wellgrow site, which is close to Bangkok airport and the Port of Bangkok, will be approximately 100,000 tons after the expansion. The site’s operations are supported by Kemira’s global and regional expert teams with strong research and innovation capabilities.

Kemira is the leading producer and supplier of pulp, paper, and board chemicals in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market, and the investment will serve the expanding Southeast Asian and Indian markets. The company’s focus is on water treatment, as well as on fiber and renewable solutions – enabling sustainability transformation for our customers.

In 2024, Kemira reported annual revenue of EUR 2.9 billion with a global team of 4,700 employees. Kemira is listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki.
