Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy says that Indonesia’s poverty rate in March 2024 was the lowest on record in the last ten years.

“Based on Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, the poverty rate in Indonesia stood at 9.03%. This figure showed a decline of 0.33% from March 2023.”

Effendy adds the extreme poverty rate also continues to decline. In March 2024, the extreme poverty rate stood at 0.83%, down 0.29% from March 2023.

Based on the Presidential Instruction, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is targeting to lower the poverty rate to 7.5% and the extreme poverty rate to zero percent this year.
