To bolster its economy, Indonesia has joined the BRICS economic alliance, founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

This development coincides with President Prabowo Subianto’s ambitious target of achieving 8% GDP growth.

As Jakarta aligns itself with BRICS Plus, the membership reflects a strategic push to unlock new economic opportunities, attract investment, and strengthen its global influence.

BRICS was formed in 2009 as a coalition of emerging economies. Recently, the group has expanded, with the recent inclusion of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia.
