The Finnish Ministry of the Interior has set up a project to prepare a proposal for legislation to prevent the distribution of terrorist content online. The Ministry confirms that the national legislation would comply with the EU regulation.
The project will run until 30 September 2022. The provisions are scheduled to enter into force on 7 June 2022 when the application of the EU Regulation begins.
The Regulation would force internet service providers to actively protect their services against terrorist content.
An internet service provider is, for example, a social media platform such as Facebook and Twitter.
