The Sustainability Committee Meeting in October will focus on Sustainable Food Systems in Business Operations.
This event will provide valuable insights into how businesses can promote sustainable food systems, reduce food waste, and support local and sustainable food sources. Michael Ardieta, Country Manager of Yara Fertilizers (Phils) Inc., will discuss Yara's precision farming technologies that optimize fertilizer and water use, boost crop yields, and reduce environmental impact. He will also cover sustainable nutrient management, eco-friendly fertilizers, and Yara's climate-smart agriculture strategies, as well as their efforts to recycle agricultural waste and improve resource efficiency.
Mac Edsel T. Florendo, Operations Supervisor at Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines, Inc., will discuss the organization's efforts to combat food waste by collecting and redistributing surplus food to communities in need. He will highlight the environmental impacts of food waste, such as CO2 emissions, and how SOS's initiatives in collaboration with businesses, community partners, and NGOs promote sustainable food systems. Mac will also share insights into SOS Philippines' achievements since 2022, including the total kilograms of food rescued, meals served, and CO2 emissions reduced, as part of their mission to contribute to SOS Global's goal of 50 million meals by 2025.
The event will take place on 30 October 2024 (Wednesday) from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at IWG Spaces, World Plaza, BGC. This event presents an excellent opportunity for businesses and organizations to explore practical strategies for implementing sustainable food practices and connect with industry leaders dedicated to advancing sustainability.
