China has launched 18 communications satellites from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province.
According to the plan, 648 satellites will be deployed by the end of next year.
Developed by SpaceSail, the Qianfan network will provide high-speed, secure and reliable broadband internet services to users around the world.
It is designed to consist of as many as 10,000 satellites traveling in low-altitude orbits before the end of 2030.
